He was on tour with Buddy Holly and the Crickets in the late 50's when Des O'Connor was also on the bill. I met him outside the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool. Those were the days of my youth.......

I loved this song when I was little and I still love it today.  Gary had a great voice.  Very sad that he died at only 44.

yes this is a good version of this song but frankie laines version is far better in my opinion . this is a song that is ment for a deeper voice . I sing and listened to both versions and frankies is better . this is a very good version dont get me wrong it is my opinion  it is a great post of a great song

This version should have been used in the TV show. Dick James version in my opinion was poor.

I always preferred Gary Miller's version to the Dick James original. It has the genuine arrow flight noise like the TV series, plus an extra verse and no children singing along.
