We’re all alone on the stage tonight
We’ve been told we’re not afraid of you
We know all our lines so well
We’ve said them so many times
Time and time again
Line and line again
Ooh yeah, you’re amazing!
We think you’re incredible
You say we’re fantastic
But still we don’t head the bill
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!
Unbelievable!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!
Unbelievable!
When the actor reaches his death
You know it’s not for real, he just holds his breath
But he always dives too soon, too fast to save himself
He’ll never make the screen, he’ll never make the 'Sweeney'
Or be that movie queen
He’s too busy hitting the vaseline
Ooh yeah, you’re amazing!
We think you are really cool
We’d give you a part, my love
But you’d have to play the fool
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!
Unbelievable!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!
Unbelievable!
We’re all alone on the stage tonight
We’re all alone on the stage tonight
I can remember collecting cut out tokens from crisp packets, once you had a few you could choose between a poster of Kate Bush or Blondie....Kate had my heart. I hung that poster proudly in my bedroom and would devour it with hungry teenage eyes.
I got distracted with other musicians from the day (who didn't stand the test of time) ...but I kept...keep returning to Kate periodically over the years.
Now I can fully appreciate her brilliance.
I see Kate Bush as a positive example for women in the music industry. Not only is she an immensely talented artist with an amazing voice, but she's not afraid to be ambitious or experimental in her projects, and while she is certainly very attractive, she doesn't need to use sex or shock value to sell her music, in sharp contrast to many of today's female artists.
THE most beautiful singing voice I have ever heard. Combine this with the fact that she wrote her own stuff and was a trained dancer she is a unique talent which just highlights the mediocrity we get from the conveyor belt of talent show contestants nowadays. And she's got the looks as well....
As I always say about this song, there's only one singer who could not only get away with the chorus "wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow...unbelievable," but actually make it one of the most emotionally charged moments in recording history.
Kate has said many times that she felt guilty that the false promises of performing arts are held in higher regard to the work of doctors and surgeons. She knew she had to be a songwriter because it ran through her veins, but she felt like artists such as herself aren't the real deal compared to more practical jobs. So she tried to make sure her output was really good, and that it counted so as to justify her chosen career path.
