I had the pleasure of meeting Gene Puerling in Kalamazoo, Michigan some 20 years ago at a college vocal jazz competition. His group, "The Hi-Lo's" were performing. Not knowing that Mr. Puerling would be there, our jazz group sang this very arrangement of this song, (I sang baritone). He remembered us performing it and was nice enough to say we did a great job. TOUGH arrangement! The man was truly a genius. An experience I'll never forget!
Not just incredible harmonies but M.T.'s microtonal adjustments to make this sound so amazing are just perfection. I can't imagine a better rendition than this. 500 out of 10!!!
Beautiful, and skilful, and sensitive, and old fashioned, and so sweet, a little piece of old standards of artistic entertaining performance, a gin and tonic little comfort...
