So sold out
How dear you are
How on earth
Did you come to live as a clown?
Close
Closed down
And here you are
Sun and then the shade
Sun eclipsed to shame
In youth you’d grown
Purest
Purest
Sail on
Cold
Burnt out
And fear you are
Gone and now the shade
Sun eclipsed to shame
Engineer Phil Brown, who also was there during the "Laughing stock" sessions, said about the Mark Hollis solo album, that although both albums follow the same experimental jazz template, they couldn't be more different from each other.
Brown described "Laughing Stock" as dark, claustrophobic and asphyxiating. But that the Mark Hollis solo album was the opposite, it was like a sigh of relieve, open and "Like a beautiful sunset"
I agree. Rest in peace Mark, your final album certainly was your most beautiful.
Incredible music!!!! really this Hollis is amazing!!! his music feels great, is a shame that he don´t bring us more of him, really this human being is incredible!!! and I hope that you´ll read this someday, Thank you so much for your great work !!!!
The fact that Mark Hollis chooses to remain "retired" only makes the music he created more enduring! The man wants to be a devoted family man...I applaud him for that!
