Strange face, with your eyes
So pale and sincere
Underneath, you know well
You have nothing to fear
For the dreams that came to you
When you were young
Told of a life where
Spring has sprung
You would seem so frail
In the cold of the night
When the armies of emotion
Go out to fight
But while the earth
Sinks to its grave
You sail to the sky
On the crest of a wave
So forget this cruel world
Where I belong
I’ll just sit and wait
And sing my song
And if one day
You should see me in the crowd
Lend a hand and lift me
To your place into the cloud
Its like Nick is in the room with you when you have his music playing, i would love to go over and visit his home town someday, England is beautiful, rip Nick
Paul.
What a rich, golden presence he was. A first rate singer & singer, ahead of his time and born in the wrong one. Simply sublime stuff. This is one song I want played at my funeral.
I don't know how you do it, saturdayson, but the way you combine these few photos we have of Nick with his music is so dynamic. It feels like we're seeing them for the first time, or at least in a completely different way. This video is so simple but it's very profound and suits the song perfectly.
You were a major inspiration and a big influence on my own channel. Thank you for that.
Sorry I only learned of him today. I had to search and search to find him, had only a few word to go by, worth the effort. Beautiful music, very moving.
What kind of beautiful soul must this man have had to create such touching songs. Did not know until recently that he is gone. Unfortunate world not to have lauded him more.
I once got to visit Nick Drake's grave when i was a kid with my dad.
It was in the sleepy little village he was born in, on a day when everything was covered in a blanket of snow and the air itself seemed a thick white hue.
It was a strange transcient experience, a very fitting image for his resting place.
A memory i'll never forget.

What if... instead of thinking of Nick Drake's death as only premature and tragic, it's possible that he lived when he was meant to live and gave what he was meant to give. Cello Song, Hazy Janes, One Of These Things First, Northern Sky etc. So magical. The first Nick song I heard was Cello Song. I was walking through a room, stopped and sat down mesmerized, then cried through Hazy Jane 1 and proceeded to listen to the whole of Way To Blue. Death is not so tragic, as much as unknown. But yes, you are right, it feels tragic. And you hear the pain in his voice, the fragility. It makes you love him more, relate to him more, does it not? That was part of gift, you see? Things are as they are, and how they must be. Doesn't mean we don't do keep doing and trying our level best. God Bless Nick Drake and You!
