That's not the 1968 original (i.e., 'original' in terms of the Techniques). --Æ.

It's amazing how the this song got to Jamaica. According to Duke Reid (Treasure Isle Studios), Pat Kelly and friends would tune in to a Miami radio station WINZ, and hear the original 1963 version by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. In Jamaica, Pat Kelly wanted to do a version of the song by they had no way of getting the record and they could only hear the song on WINZ sometimes at night because the signal was so weak. Finally in 1968, they had heard the song enough times to replicate it. What emerged is one of the best Reggae songs ever produced, and still my top 10 favorite.

So many great versions of this great Mayfield tune.  Love this one.   But Dennis Brown's version almost makes me cry.  Ha.
