It is a great song, Musically it is rushed in end phrases, In the most part the tempo is correct. What a voice for the time a really wonderful recording. The piano part is played on a Steinway.

I was 22 when I really began to LOVE this old music. Go figure... Still love oldies, ragtime, old-time country, blues, jazz, Renaissance, classical, etc.

What was it about her voice that recorded SO well with 1920s technology? The piano sounds like it was recorded in 1927, the voice sounds like 1955...

I immerse myself into the beauty of these recordings to escape this modern world.

I wouldn't call it unsophiscated. I don't know how you feel about modern pop music, but you surely can't call the output of Katy Perry, Justin Beiber or most of the others sophisticated.

Lyrics: Lovers depend on moonlight For a love affair Babies depend on mothers For their tender care Flowers depend on sunshine And the morning dew Each thing depends on something And I depend on you I can be happy, I can be sad I can be good or I can be bad It all depends on you I can be lonely out in a crowd I can be humble, I can be proud It all depends on you I can save money, or spend it Go right on living, or end it You're to blame, honey, for what I do I know that I can be beggar, I can be king I can be almost any old thing It all depends on you

I feel like I was born in the wrong time I have a obsession with something about the 1920’s -1960’s I feel like my past life had something BIG to do with that time era!

I was a 16 year old high school kid working as an usher at the local movie theater when "Love Me or leave me" came to town.  I think I became a Ruth Etting fan right then. :)
