She puts so much emotional power in her voice. I don;t know if anyone else could ever make this song so believable. She just had so much truth in her singing, so personal to her.
Swampzoid....couldn't agree more with you. Of course I love the heck out of Conway, George, Loretta, Jack Greene, and the other greats, but I am not so sure that they are on the same level as Tammy was back in the day. She had a dynamic voice....from her mouth came the most beautiful lyrics put to country music I have ever heard. She was at the top of her game from the mid 60's through the late 80's. Her music is to be treasured.
I walked in the house one day and caught my Dad listening so intently to her on this song. Me being a snotty little rocker, he knew I looked down on country music, yet we listened to those last bars, and I was really moved but too young and proud to show. And so amazed by my Dad's appreciation of her. Dad, if you're out there, now I'm humbled by the years and I love her singing and I miss you.
