People who say Butler sounds like Bowie, Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols, Manny Moe and Jack, or any body else is irrational and irritating. People hear a sax or an English accent, so Richard Butler 'sounds' like Bowie. Butler is his own animal. His gravelly voice alone stands out, and his quality compositions throughout the 80s makes him one of a kind and original.

Of 80s vocalists, to me, Richard Butler is the most interesting sounding, with the gravel/chain smokers 'enhanced' sound and noticeable English accent appealing. For shear vocal excitement and immediacy Simon Labon of Duran Duran is my other pick.
