To compare the Shadows and the Ventures (2 great instrumental groups) is difficult. One needs to find a song that they both recorded, and then compare them. How are the groups similar? How are they different? Try this song. Ventures recording it in 1964. Shadows recorded it in 1961. Similar but different. Shadows = a mellow love song. Ventures = an instrumental stretch. Also, compare the original (1955) "Theme from the Medic" by the Victor Young orchestra -- string music!
