Reflections in my mind, thoughts I can’t define
My heart is racing and the night goes on I can almost hear a laugh, coming from your photograph
Funny how a look can share a thousand meanings
Well-intended lies, contemplating alibies
Is it really you, or is it me I’m blaming
A distant memory flashes over me Even though you’re gone, I feel you deep inside
Dance beneath the light with that look in your eyes
I can’t stop loving you, time passes quickly and chances are few
I won’t stop till I’m through loving you, girl
There’s a window in a heart, I’ve tried to look through from the start
You’re never really sure what someone else is thinking
Someone’s broken something new, another altered point of view
Just a certain someone’s conscience playing
I held it in my hand, I did not understand
What lives inside the wind that cries her name
Tried to catch a shooting star, what seems so close can’t be that far
I’m living in a dream that’s never ending
Dance beneath the light with that look in your eyes
I can’t stop loving you, time passes quickly and chances are few
I won’t stop till I’m through loving you, girl
(Instrumental break)
Dancing with that look that’s in your eyes
I can’t stop loving you, time passes quickly and chances are few
I won’t stop till I’m through loving you, girl
I can’t stop loving you, time passes quickly and chances are few
I won’t stop till I’m through loving you, Loving you
God, I HATE these guys.
Hate Joe Williams because I’ll never be able to sing like him.
Hate Steve Lukather because I’ll never be able to play like him.
Hate David Paich because I’ll never be able to write like him.
Hate the Porcaro’s because they were/are (don’t forget Steve!) geniuses.
Thanks Toto for giving me a complete inferiority complex that I’ll never get over.
(Oh, and thanks for the music. If it wasn’t for your songs, I’d have never gotten laid!
For me this song perfectly represents summertime as a kid in the 80's. Back when everyone seemed so happy when you walked on the streets. You could look at people in their eyes and smile and they'd smile back and greet you. People weren't in such a rush all the time unlike the humanoid-downward-looking-at-their-phone-robots of nowadays in this rat raced stressed out society.
It's one of those songs you'd hear when you were heading out in the morning while the sun was already set out blazing and everything remotely transparant shined like a diamond. A clear blue sky, no smog, flowers in full bloom, bumblebees dancing on them, cats snorring in gardens under the plants, water sparkling and people didn't stress. And life? ... life was just GOOD!
