I’d like to take my time
There’s a good reason I must find
I want to put a few miles down
I’d like to feel my two feet on the ground
Another year’s hard work done
I’ve paid for it with all of my blood
I’ve given you more than I’m worth
I want to dig my fingers into the earth
Because I know there’s beauty buried beneath
The surface of what we seek
All hopes left unfound
They lie between the wish and the well
The sun is just rising up
Mother birds feeding their young
The light of a brand new day
I think we’ve finally found a home in this place
Now I know there’s beauty buried beneath
The surface of what we seek
All hopes left unfound
They lie between the wish and the well
I know there’s beauty buried beneath
(buried)
There’s beauty buried beneath
(buried)
I know there’s beauty buried beneath
(buried)
There’s beauty buried beneath
I know there’s beauty buried beneath
(buried)
(There's beauty buried beneath)
Now I know there’s beauty buried beneath
The surface of what we seek
All hopes left unfound
They lie between the wish and the well
This is song goes so deep inside my heart... it makes me dream of stuff that I didn't know I wanted to do before.... it's simply a call for you to keep believing that everything is gonna be fine....
This song makes you want to go outside and watch the sunrise, walk in a winding trail with a tree rooftop, sway back and fourth, and cry your heart out. I don't want to say this is his best song because every song he writes is only the best; its one of my favorites by him. Such an amazing artist
This song hits me in a different way than most of Mr. Greens songs do.There are multiple ways I interpret this song, which is why I love it so much. But one big message i get from this song (personally), is to just slow down. Take a second to breathe and soak in your surrounding, your life. Find a home in the place you're at, look beneath the surface, and just be at ease with yourself. Hope will follow. Welp, there's my two cents. Thanks again for being an excellent musician, and writer Dallas. I know we all appreciate it!
Is it just me or is this song an ode to Fleetwood Mac. The guitar line and vocal harmonies immediately made me think of Buckingham and co...
Its a good thing... a very good thing.
It's like a spiritual successor to The Chain that never reaches the same climax, but still awesome.
