I don’t care about life or the world around me
I’ve got a place to go
I don’t care what you say, words cannot harm me
You’re going down below
Come and join the fun on the way to heaven
Come and talk to God on the party line
If you can’t be bothered, we don’t need you
We’re going to live for a very long time
I don’t care for your views or your style of living
You’re going to fail the test
You can argue all night, I have no misgivings
And I never get depressed
Come and join the fun on the way to heaven
Come and talk to God on the party line
If you can’t be bothered, we don’t need you
We’re going to live for a very long time
Come and join the fun on the way to heaven
Come and talk to God on the party line
If you can’t be bothered, we don’t need you
We’re going to live for a very long time
You may think that it’s strange, this is all I live for
But you can’t understand
If you listen to me, I’ll explain it carefully
You must know I am right
Come and join the fun on the way to heaven
Come and talk to God on the party line
If you can’t be bothered, we don’t need you
We’re going to live for a very long time
He’ll give you one more chance, now’s the time to take it
He’s waiting for your call
You’ll be up there with me, we’ll be grinning in heaven
When the day of judgment comes
Come and join the fun on the way to heaven
Come and talk to God on the party line
If you can’t be bothered, we don’t need you
We’re going to live for a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
For a very long time
I've managed to acquire both the vinyl and cassette versions of this album.
I was expecting the cassette version to last as long as the CD/Itunes version does but instead it just suddenly cuts off ending with "for a very long time, for a ............." although you do faintly hear the words "very long time"
Did all cassette copies end like this?
Made me laugh that on the cassette inlay this track still had the "endless" symbol beside it.
I had this on vinyl and when it got to the loop, at the end it went “for a very long t.. then it sounds like needle being pulled off when it was playing and it wouldn’t stop until you kicked it. It is also on cassette version and the canadian version LP.
I have the Australian release of this album on vinyl, having heard the endless loop on the British import a friend owned. Unfortunately the Australian version did NOT loop ... record company was probably too cheap to do technical cutting like that. It just made a noise like a scratched record and stopped as usual. Later I got a Severed Heads record which DID have an intended permanent loop ... at Track 1! So you had to lift it off to get to Track 2. Cute.
I've heard that this track closes the Penthouse and Pavement album and on the vinyl version, the "Very Long Time" bit at the end continues into the run out groove and plays endlessly.
Does anyone know how many time this bit is repeated before the run out grove is reached?
Yes indeed the run off end groove had audio
and would repeat 'for a very long time' for ..... erm a very long time until one of two things happened.
1. you lifted the needle very gently off or
2. The electricity supply was stopped either by oil supplies eventually running out or you got cut off.
My Mum used to go mad if she heard me playing this one.
Well played person for posting. Brilliant.
I'm contemplating making a tribute video cause it just makes me smile.
The endless loops also cuts off if you play it on a turntable with auto return. Think the "for a very long time" line only plays 5 or 6 times prior to reaching the run out groove then it stops.
And if you have the original version of the album, the one with rainbow colours on the cover, this track loops perfectly in time at the end of the album on the A side and repeats for a very long time until you lift the needle off the record, very cool.
