Delighted to say I seen LUKE and Dubliners many a time on Tour.

A word about this - two wives are allowed in the army; any of you who remember your days in the army will recall the quartermaster's standing joke when issuing your kit: "two wives are allowed in the Army".
The other wife was an item described as a housewife - a sewing kit consisting of some needles, thread, spare buttons etc.
This was the zenith of humour!
BTW, Kelly many thanks for this posting.
Why are all the videos on this channel called 'Luke Kelly' when they are 'The Dubliners' songs? Kelly never wanted to claim all the fame for the band, this just tastes weird.
just heard this for the first time today, learning it now. nothing like this will ever come out again but at least there are lots of songs like this for me to discover
Thank you for that information, tomtesticle. I always wondered about that in the song. I'm an American and never heard that term when I was in the service. Appreciate it.
