anyway now, it don’t seem right
he is in there and you’re on the outside
over pine ridge to wounded knee
there’s blood on the ground as far as you see
crazy life
in the air i’m sensing a change in the weather
in the end the path is clear
does anyone remember here
did you all think he’d just disappear
crazy life
what have you done with Peltier
who did you think you’d taken away
crazy life
in the air i’m sensing a change in the weather
in the end the path is clear
burying won’t stop it breathing forever
underground it takes to root
anyway, it don’t seem right
he is in there and you’re on the outside
what have you done with Peltier
who did you think you’d taken away
it’s not over…
Wow!
This travpoet guy/gal must be SOME kind of loser. . .
See how quick they shut that mind down, as to not acknowledge there profound foolishness.
Something tells me that 'travpoet' takes up more space & air than they should!
God, I feel old. Played this song over and over in my first place. (before I followed a girl cross country to my second place). Then spent 13 years in the US Army and was all over. This song reminds me of when things were simple and no one was shooting at me...Miss those days...
"It's not over" just because your life is in chaos. Clarity and better times are just around the corner. I love this song because it has helped me in some of the darker periods of my life.
They really are a great band. Unfortunately they seem to be looked upon as just this sort of throw away band from the 90s that have a strange name. However they are a guitar driven band with a melodic sound that never resorted to any sort of overproduction . They are very much a performance driven band with talented musicians that rely solely on their vocal, instrumental and songwriting abilities with no B.S. which are attributes that are unheard of today
btw guitarist Todd Nichols (and not usual lead singer Glen Phillips...) sings lead on this song. the [90s] songs Todd sings lead on are: "I Think About" & "Nothing Is Alone" [from Pale], "Inside" & "Begin" [from Dulcinea], "Hope" "All In All" (Glen did chorus) & "All Right" [from In Light Syrup], and "Crazy Life" [from the Empire Records soundtrack, and later the Coil album]. took this info from an old site, idk if Todd sings lead on any of their post-reunion stuff.
First heard this as a track on Empire Records OST and it's one of my all time best tracks.
Very underrated,
Very under played,
But glad it's my very own special track.
"Over Pine Ridge to Wounded Knee, there's blood on the ground as far as you see"
This song still makes me cry that someone would craft such an incredible piece of music to memorialize the fights and losses the Native community in one little corner of the state I live in. For many years I lived just a short drive from Pine Ridge, and I've seen the land where it all went down. "It's not over" ...and it won't be, not till some very old wrong are righted.
Anyway now, it don't seem right
He's in there and you're on the outside
Over pine ridge to wounded knee
There's blood on the ground as far as you see
Crazy life
In the air i'm sensing a change in weather
In the end the path is clear
Does anyone remember here
Did you all think he'd just disappear
Crazy life
What've you done with Peltier
Who do you think you''ve taken away?
Crazy life
In the air i'm sensing a change in weather
In the end the path is clear
Burying won't stop it breathing forever
Underground it takes to root
Anyway it don't seem right
He's in there and you're on the outside
What've you done with Peltier
Who do you think you've taken away?
Crazy life
It's not over...
Leonard Peltier (born September 12, 1944) is a Native American activist and member of the American Indian Movement (AIM).
